An On the Real Film Original
Project Onward is an arts program for adults with mental and developmental disabilities. Previously located in the historic Chicago Cultural Center and now in the Bridgeport neighborhood, Project Onward provides workspace, art materials, professional guidance, and opportunities for exhibition and sales to artists who have exceptional talents but face challenges ranging from autism to mental illness. For the public, interaction with the art and artists of Project Onward fosters awareness of disability issues and an appreciation of the visionary talents of people with special needs. On The Real Film’s profile of Project Onward tells the story of the program through the artists’ work and the artists’ process in their own words.
